MEDIA REQUEST-PRIVATE LAW

Do you have examples of cases where court-ordered

contact between parents and children does not take place e.g. as

"punishment" or "control" of parents for misdemeanours, or where there has been

communication about things social services don't want discussed (eg siblings say

things that aren't supposed to be said, etc? We are trying to make a push

on this at the moment. If parents don't comply with court orders, a ton of

I am an advocate for a young Canadian couple from whom their three children were removed in October 2007 and i have

Care applications remain at highest ever level

Care applications remain at highest ever level

Cafcass report care application figures for April to August 2010

Care application demand in the period between April and August 2010 has remained at a very high level. Cafcass received 3,744 new applications.

This figure is 3.7 % higher when compared to the same period last year.

The April, May, July and August application numbers were the highest

ever recorded by Cafcass for these individual months.…

Only one care order in 400 is being refused, the cost of such proceedings have increased tenfold



Prior too April 1st 2008, it cost Local Authority's £150 too instigate care proceedings,and now can cost as much as £4000.

With the current financial restraints, it will be interesting too see if the

current trend, of child stealing,and increase in care proceedings

PAIN are dealing with a case where a Social Worker, has made a diagnosis of personality disorder,and has suggested MSBP.

Social Services became involved,after staff from the child's school, made a

note that the mother was taking her daughter too see her GP, on a

regular basis.

The child's name was placed on the child protection register,and is monitored at least once a fortnight.

MANY SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENTS ARE FACING LARGE FINANCIAL CUTS

Robert Mucullock-Graham, Head of Barnet childrens services says that

Barnet Social Services are at the end of their tether, due to the

reduce in finance and the demand in their Services, obviously put down

to the scaring tactics, after the increase in care proceedings,after

the Baby Peter tragedy.

PRESENT CAFCASS GUIDELINES TO BE EXTENDED FOR ANOTHER YEAR

The Cafcass guidelines that came out recently, too compensate for the

higher than normal rise in care proceedings, will continue for another

year.

Anthony Douglas, chief executive of Cafcass, speaking at the House of

Commons on Tuesday 6th September, stated to MPS, that Sir Nicholas
