As poverty has become more about individuals, child protection has become more authoritarian’

I have blogged many times about a Father who had an 11 year old Son.

His Wife had died 3 years previously, due to cancer.

The Father had long term serious medical issues, the DWP, stopped his ESA, and he was deemed fit to work, his PIP had been stopped awaiting tribunal.

He was waiting for a reconsideration on his entitlement to ESA, so basically his income was zero.

He had no money to feed his Son, or himself.

But Rather helping the Father to keep them together, the Boy was taken into long term Foster Care.

The LA were very happy to place the child with foster carers, but Social Services could offer no financial support.

I am unsure why the Father was not pointed to food banks.
