The kinship carers who save relatives from being fostered

Well done to Solicitor Nigel Priestley at Ridley and Hall Solicitors Huddersfield.

Every Local Authority in the UK, have a mandatory obligation to consider using the kincare clause by placing a child with an immediate Family Member, such as Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles, to take on the temporary caring role during investigations,or section 47 inquiries.

The Family member may be entitled to means tested Legal Aid, and be brought into as a party to Public Law Care Proceedings.

But Kincarers or those taken on a Special Guardianship, are often left with genuine financial hardship.

Foster Carers can earn up to £700 a week per Child, with Private Foster Care Agencies.

Nigel Priestley has had great successes within the High Court, representing Grandparents and other Family Members the same amount of money that Foster Carers get.

Another issue is that Grandparents that are slightly over the financial threshold with regards to savings have no chances in being granted Legal Aid.and have to break into savings, leaving them to pay the extortionate legal fees for Representation.

Nigel has won many awards for his challenging work in this sector.
