The first thing is through this tragedy the Parents are now unable to take him to Italy.
So the only hope is being to take Alfie home to die.
Alder Hey Hospital are digging their heals in big time.
Alfie could be left without IV fluids or subcutaneous fluids, which will leave him severely dehydrated, they look like they will also not allow the insertion of another Naso Gatric tube, to feed Alfie into his bowel.
It is Hospital Procedure that if a Patient is without nutrition for more than 72 hours, because of swallowing problems, and the risk of Aspiration pneumonia, they need to put an NG tube in situ, and feed via NG, in this case
But Alfie is now on an end of life care plan, and the thing is they could do nothing, only analgesia to keep him pain free.
Very sad for all involved, especially the Parents and extended Family, that may have to see him, literally starve.
I hope that they have the decency at least to put subcutaneous fluids up, continue with oxygen via a nasal oxygen tube.
Previous nursing care has been very poor, with more than 2 drug errors, nurses falling asleep in charge of a ventilator.
Unexplained burns and bruises found on Alfie body, and left in a filthy condition, in a urinated pair of pyjamas, and faeces
and urine covered nappy.
Even though Alfie may be on a end of life care plan, they still have a duty of care, which they have shown in this case NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.
