The whole child protection industry in the West Midlands is in complete meltdown, due to the increase in Care Proceedings since the tragic death of Baby Peter,and other Local Authority failings up and down the Country resulting in the death of vulnerable children.
There is a waiting list for Guardians to be appointed too the Family Court arena, which is up to five months, totally unacceptable when these profeshionals should be appointed within a week of a case entering the family courts.
Cafcass are failing children and families on a large scale, leaving children at risk of abuse or even death,and in the majority of cases, innocent parents being apart from their children for a longer time scale.
Babies are being taken on Emergency Protection Orders, from Mothers, within hours of birth, in many cases Social Services have very little evidence to support such drastic action, they should be considering the kincare clause highlighted in the Public Law Guidelines, by placing the Children with immediate family members, such as Grandparents but these guidelines are disregarded every day with reference to my PAIN caseload.
A childrens panel Solicitor representing PAIN clients,stated that he had never known anything like it in his life with regards to the amount of children that are being taken into care.
If common sense doesn't prevail, there could be many miscarriages of justice,and forced adoption, via the secret family courts.
One Local Authority in the Country have dropped 5oo cases the question is should any of these cases of been instigated in the first place?.
A quarter of our cases are based in Birmingham,and the west Midlands.
