Child protection and related Social Service issues are so very different up in Scotland.

For one thing there is full Legal Aid provision for all Public Law and Private Law cases.

Families are given a lot more support, to keep them together, avoiding lengthy care proceedings.

Children are only taken into care at the last resort.

We had our usual PAIN Solicitors meeting a few weeks ago, and one of our Solicitors came down from Scotland, he was very bemused that one of our Service users had payed nearly a million pounds with reference a private law cases.
