So Mr Narey states that more children should be taken into care.

The Director of Barnardos should be well aware that the family courts are in meltdown, with the alarmingly increase in care proceedings, which in some parts of the country is as much as 80%.

With the former comes the large waiting list for guardians to be appointed to cases, in the family court arena, the waiting list in some
parts of the country is seven months, totally unacceptable when these
professionals
should be appointed within a week of a case reaching court.

This situation could leave children at risk of abuse, or in the majority of cases, children being apart from their parents for a longer
time scale.

Surrey County council recently dropped 200 cases, to concentrate on safeguarding vulnerable children, the question is, should these cases have been instigated in the first
place, costing millions at the tax payers expense?

It would also be of good practice for social Workers to use the kincare clause.
