Dear Support Group,

 

In October 2011, the Grandparents Legal Centre was opened.

 

The reason that we set up this service for grandparents, families and friends is that kinship carers have increasingly turned to Ridley & Hall for specialist advice. Our team of advisors at Grandparents Legal Centre understand the issues facing those who either are already caring or who may have been asked to care for their grandchildren.

 

We are independently recognised as specialists. Michael George, James Cook and I are all members of the Law Society’s Children Panel. Members of the Children’s Panel are approved by the Law Society as having expertise in care proceedings.

 

We have a long record of successfully challenging local authorities’ failure to support kinship carers, either financially or in other ways.

Some grandparents find that they are caring for a child with a disability or who has very challenging behaviour. The team here can give advice in these difficult areas of the law.
