hub 'Plunged into poverty': are kinship carers getting the support they need?

https://www.theguardian.com/social-care-network/2018/feb/22/kinship...

Yes i agree with every sentiment with regards to this Report.

Local Authority's have a mandatory obligation to consider using the Kincare Clause by placing a Child with an immediate Family Member such as Grandparents, Aunties and Uncles before using the more expensive option Foster Care.

Non means tested Legal Aid is available for Family Members considering taking on the Caring role, under Public Law Care Proceedings, the Family Member can be brought in as a party to these Proceedings.

But why should Grandparents or other Family Members wanting to take on this role, be sanctioned if they are slightly over the threshold for them to get Legal Aid,and have to use their small amount of savings to be used to pay their legal fees.

Also Grandparents taking on the kincare clause or Special Guardianship Role are left to struggle with severe financial hardship while taking on the care of these Children.

Foster Carers can earn up to £700 per child a week, while working for private Foster Care Agencies.

But with the new ploy by the Government Foster to Adopt, Babies are ear marked for adoption before they are even born.

The Prospective Adopters come in and Foster new born baby's, in the early days of Care Proceedings, or within hours of birth, because the LA, will go for an Emergency Protection Order, and the Baby is taken away straight from the delivery room, after being seen by a Paediatrician,.

So in other words the Adopters have their so called baby straight away after birth or within hours of birth.

The Kincare clause or Special Guardianship role, in these Cases will not even be given a thought, and assessment in a Mother and Baby unit definitely now NEVER TO BE THE OPTION.

Nigel Priestley a Soliitor at Ridley and Hall, has been very successful at Getting Grandparents the same amount of money that a Foster Carer gets, on a weekly basis.and has won awards for his outstanding work.

I would advise all Grandparents that are struggling financially while looking after a Child under the Kincare clause to contact Nigel Priestley.

The firm also have some outstanding Childrens Panel Solicitors, James Cook and Laura Milburn that will take on representing Parents in Public Law Care Proceedings Cases..
