Improving Futures Workshop

The Big Lottery Fund has launched a new funding stream called Improving Futures and VAL will be supporting voluntary groups to identify a proposal to go forward from this area.

The programme focuses on improving the futures of families with ‘multiple and complex problems’, whose eldest child is between 5 and 10 years old. The maximum award for this programme is £900,000 but only 20 bids will be successful across the country, and there will only one bid accepted per local authority area, so together we need to create something truly special.

Please note this story has been amended. There are only 20 bids available across the country, we apologise for any confusion this might have caused.

Bids must be led by a Voluntary and Community organisation and must have the endorsement of the relevant Local Authorities. This is a great opportunity for the Leicester and Leicestershire Voluntary and Community Sector to work together and make a real difference to the lives of the most vulnerable people in our communities.

The Big Lottery Fund is hosting a briefing event in Birmingham on Friday 8 April and VAL will then host a workshop on Tuesday 12 April 2pm to 5pm to discuss potential proposals in more detail. The workshop on the 12 April is being hosted at VAL on Newarke Street and refreshments will be available from 1:45pm. Please be aware that we can only accommodate one person per organisation and that the delegate you send should be of sufficient seniority to commit your organisation to being part of an expression of interest.

If you would like to discuss your potential involvement with the project, please contact Ivan Liburd on 0116 2574980 or email ivan.l@valonline.org.uk.

More information on the programme can be viewed at the website below:

Please read the guidance documents prior to attending the workshop on the 12.
