Launch of the Children and Young People's Forum

Highlights include:

• The Mayor Listens: Discussion with the VCS
• Imran Hussain, Head of Policy at Child Poverty Action Group on strategies for reducing child poverty

Voluntary Action LeicesterShire are launching the combined City and County Children & Young People's Forum at the end of this month. The launch event will focus on the voluntary sector vision for Children & Young Peoples across the City and the County. Sir Peter Soulsby has confirmed that he and other City Councillors will be attending the event and hosting a session called "The Mayor Listens" where he will discuss the priorities in Leicester. Leicestershire Local Authority have been requested to provide a speaker who can provide a similar briefing for the County. We also have Imran Hussein, Head of Policy at Child Poverty Action in attendance who will talk about strategies for reducing child poverty.

The event is taking place on Tuesday 28 June from 10am to 2pm and is being hosted at the Voluntary Action LeicesterShire offices at 9 Newarke Street in Leicester. On the day we will identify the shared priorities of the Voluntary and Community Sector and address how we will work together to improve outcomes for children and young people in Leicester and LeicesterShire.
