Miscarriage of Justice issues

Please can you put your 'penny worth' into giving a suggestion toward the Editors code of practice. We need to try and at least get them to check the quotes they provide to stop ruining peoples lives with false lies and inuendoes, pre trial.

My husband and I suffered from this from 3 quotes that turned the local villagers against us. all the press had to do was verify the allegation 2 of which would have been in th public domain - they just used local gossip. Many who contact FASO have the same problem, wrong information - but also being named and shamed before a trial commences thus making local jurors possibly biased in this day of paedaphilia witch-hunting - which also has an impact on all sex allegation crimes.

Check out the coverage on my husband and I, and see how it worked against us, starting at the first trial in 2000, the subsequent hype whilst he was missing and his return to the UK and trial in Jan/Feb 2008. Because of the news media coverage of the 2000 case, jurors will have had access to the media report on the internet, which then colours a juries mind, especially in a small community. My husband along with many others in prison are maintaining their innocence and are apellants (they are appealing).

The letter in the Daily Express Tue Dec 8th is quoted below

The Editors code of Practice Committee, which writes and revises th voluntary code of standards overseen by the Press Complaints Commission, is undertaking its annual review of teh code.
The committee welcomes suggestions from teh public, civil society and teh industry on how the code might be revised to improve teh system of self-regulation of the press, of which it is an essential component.

sugesstions should be sent as soon as possible, but no later than 31 Jan 2010, to:-
Ian Beales, Code Committee Secretary, PO Box 235, Stonehouse, Gloucestershire GL10 3UF.

It was with great sadness that Margarets husband Roger passed away on 22nd December, declaring his innocence until the very end.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time, Margaret is a very loyal colleague who has worked tirelessly for our cause for well over 12 years.
