Within the childrens act, it states that a child that has been placed into care of the the Local Authority, should be allowed to continue to practice their religion.
This clause is on the high priority list, but is ignored on a large scale, i know in our case 25 years ago, the issue of a child being allowed to practice their religion was still of priority, but during the 12 week period that my three year old was in foster care, he was not once taken to our church.
I know of a case we are dealing with. the child 12 years of age,in a foster placement, was not given the chance to go to his own church, but was forced to go to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Wittiness.
Foster carers should not be shunned because of their religion.
In the headlines a few weeks ago, a couple were banned from fostering, something they had been doing for over twenty years it came to the LA knowledge that the couple were some what against homosexuality, which is bible based.
They were told by the Local Authority not to appeal against their decision to disallow the couple to foster because of their bible based belief, once again violating in my pinion the Couples rights, anybody is allowed to appeal against any decision made by the LA.
