Rising number of grandparents going to court to win right to see their grandchildren

Every LA in the UK, have a mandatory obligation to consider using the Kincare Clause, by placing a child with an immediate Family members, such as Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles.and these figures look like this could be happening.

Grandparents, can be made a party to Public Law Care Proceedings., they can be entitled to means tested Legal Aid,

But if their savings takes them slightly over the threshold, they may have to pay for Legal Representation out of their savings, or get PROBONO, Representation, or act as Litigant In Person, and may use a Mackenzie Friend to aid them in Court.

Grandparents should not be allowed to suffer genuine hardship while taking on this role, the Government should bring back automatic Legal Aid for Grandparents taking on the Kincare role or going for a Special Guardianship Order within the Family Court arena.

This would also prevent a situation where a child is left on a section 20 Order for many weeks.
