The future of Children’s Social Care shows that under the current system, children in care of the Local Authority could rise tenfold, up to 95, 000 by the end of 2005.

Based on the children Social Care Review, the report states that 39 percent of the children could of been avoided being placed in the Care system. and things could of worked out a lot differently, if more support had been put in place for those who were deemed to be on the verge of crisis.

The Report proposes a totally different family focused way of delivering family focused support and care.

The former could reduce the number of children being placed into Local Authority Care and increase the number of children returning safely to live with their parents.

But to enable these positive things to happen the Report highlights that local and national funding is vital to allow investment of services.

Based on statistics via Care Reviews, with the so called professional’s, the Report finds that 34 percent of Children in Care could of had opportunities and proper support to return to their families.
