Sounds like the same story that i had to go through via University Hospitals of Leicester in 2006,

I was working on an acute stroke unit myself at the time as a Nurse, for the same Trust that was supposed to be caring for my late Father.

I had taken my Father on a Nile cruise to Egypt, he came back with Diarrhea, we just thought it was a bug that he caught over the, THEY CALL IT THE PHARAOHS REVENGE, and it it is notorious to catch it over there.

Anyway to cut the story short the hospital failed my Dad in every single way.

I used to go straight from work to see my Father, not a very nice sight.

My poor dad was left with dirty food marks around his mouth and face, he was never shaved, dirty pyjamas, dirty pads were left on the floor.

In the end he was looking more like a vagrant, i put every complaint in going, had the Matron in the office, she stated the issues were down to poor staffing.

I told them that their  Staffing issues had nothing to do with me, and that my Dad was being failed miserably.

I told her that My ward Manager would not of put up with any incompetence, and would of got rid of most of the Nurses working on that ward in a week, Lindsay was notorious for getting rid of rubbish Nurse, she kept me on the ward, so i guess that the Matron thought my expectations were to high.

In the end my Father died due to the Hospitals incompetence.

Things have not changed, my Husband has been in and out of hospital recently.

And they denied him the basics of Nursing Care.

I was in Hospital Myself at the time, and went down to see him, 4 days running i went down to see him and he had no pyjama bottoms, disgraceful, the basics of Nursing Care they could not even be carried out properly.
