Vulnerable children forced into homelessness as local authorities routinely ignore child protection laws

I contacted Social Services last week, a Service User with a 16 year old Daughter living in a 3 bed roomed terraced house, had no credit on her gas and electric, it was one of the coldest nights of the year.

Mum was running behind with her mortgage the DWP were paying some of the interest off.

Mum was on income based ESA, WRAG Group, and has child benefit coming in.

The Mother and her Daughter are living on food parcels and groceries from a food bank.

The Emergency Duty team, stated that they would not be able to give any financial assistance what so ever, after the Social Worker said that she would be taking £20 to the house, the Social Worker came to the house and gave Mum the £20.

I stated to the emergency team that they were failing in their duty to support a 16 year old Girl, and her Mother who is very vulnerable with quite a few long term medical conditions, one being asthma.

I was told that they do not give any financial assistance what so ever, but then the Social Worker turned up with £20.

She is now out of gas and electric once again.

I have also blogged recently about a Father that had his Wife die 3 years ago of cancer, his benefits had been stopped and were waiting for a reconsideration, which meant he would not receive any money what so ever from the DWP.

He had no money to feed his Child and himself, all the LA did was put the Boy into long term Foster Care.

The Father killed himself.

Beggars believe that the LA would give the Father no money to keep them together , but very happy to serve the Foster carers with a large amount of money at the tax payers expense.

LA would remove babies if a Family were homeless and living in the street, babies, result, money for ADOPTION.

But now Parents who are living in the streets with older Children are now being left to fend for themselves.

WE ARE GOING BACK TO THE DARK DAYS OF THE WORK HOUSE.
