We are One Leicester
There are many stories and news updates about activites happening in Leicester City Centre this weekend (9 and 10 October) around planned demonstrations, peace vigils and the One Leicester Festival.
Many of these updates have been sent to Voluntary Action LeicesterShire on behalf of organisations and the Local Authority for circulation to the Local Voluntary and Community Sector.
The VAL website will be continue to be updated with news and events as soon as it is released and will aim to do this until Friday 9 October.

City Centre Events – This Weekend!
Friday 8 October 2010
4.30pm: Peace Vigil at the Clock Tower
Led by Hope not Hate. Pray for peace in Leicester and help dress the city in lime green ribbons.
5.30pm – 6.30pm: Vigil at Leicester Cathedral
All welcome. Lime green ribbons given out at both events.

9.15am: Leicester Marathon Victoria Park
This year’s Leicester Marathon supports ‘We Are One Leicester’ – with
runners and supporters being encouraged to wear lime green ribbons
1pm – 4pm: We Are One Leicester Festival
Humberstone Gate (in front of the Big Screen) featuring Billy Bragg, Reverend and The Makers, and more…
Stage performances also include: Egyptian Dance, Bali Rai, De Montfort University Gospel Choir, Nupur Arts, Red Leicester Choir and
more!
Activities and entertainment in and around the marquees include: Face
Painting, Soft Touch Arts, the Street Vibe Bus, Steel Band and the
BookBus with stories from around the world. You can also have a go at
sport and dance activities.
See yourself on the Big Screen! Find the roving camera and broadcast your message of support.
Sign the Community Cohesion Charter Board ‘We Are One Leicester’ to show support for your City.
All welcome to the events, come along and:
- show you’re proud to live in Leicester
- promote peace and oppose hate
- celebrate what is great about our City
