I applaud Lord Laming and the new scheme to be introduced in Hertfordshire, with reference to newly qualified Social Workers, being given a years extra training and mentoring, in regards to practical training and reduced case loads.
The former could prevent vulnerable children being left at risk, because of inaccurate data and documentation in case files by adequately qualified and less experienced staff and could also prevent miscarriages of justice and children taken into care wrongly, in emergency situations, more experienced Social Workers, may consider to use the Kin care clause, instead of considering Foster care.
This scheme should be considered on a national basis.
Too many children are being removed, by newly qualified staff, with no life experience.
