MY THOUGHTS
Keep the children with their natural parents, with support, or at the last resort, use the kincare clause highlighted in the Public Law guidelines, by allowing Grandparents or an immediate family member to go for special Guardianship, if there is no way the parents can care for the child.
Local Authority’s in some areas are very reluctant to use the kincare clause, and would rather use foster care, costing millions of pounds at the taxpayers expense.
These childrens homes, care for the most vulnerable in Society, children with severe autistic like disorders, and have already been through the crisis, of nobody wanting to foster them.
Some children have been through many carers, up to fifty, which is not in the best interest of autistic children, as we all know these children thrive on routine, in these type of cases childrens homes would be the better option, as well as many other children who have been through many foster placements, which has left them severely traumatised.
