Robert Mucullock-Graham, Head of Barnet childrens services says that
Barnet Social Services are at the end of their tether, due to the
reduce in finance and the demand in their Services, obviously put down
to the scaring tactics, after the increase in care proceedings, after
the Baby Peter tragedy.
Nottingham Social Services are facing the same dilemma,.the head of
childrens said that they had received a 56% increase in referrals
during the last twelve months, and a 83% increase over the past two
years with regards too children subject too child protection plans.
Other Local Authority's that are experiencing financial cuts are
Birmingham 13 million, Somerset County Council 17 million pounds,
Hampshire county council 24 million,
Haringey, LA, that failed Baby P, have to make savings up to 60 million over the next three years.
These LAs will be concentrating on earlier intervention, enabling
families to support themselves, instead of using acute specialist
services.
Lets hope that the former means that Social Services will be working to
keep families together, without the need to spend extortionate amount
of money on care proceedings and the need for foster care, by using the kincare clause.
Value-Social Services cuts.
