The 28th February saw Maypole meet Gok Wan on an Induction Day for the World of Difference funding. Vodaphone is sponsoring a member of staff (our first) for Maypole for March and April, to help get our new web site ready.

Maypole is based in Leeds, and here is Gok Wan with the Yorkshire winners:

Maypole’s name was up in ‘lights’ with other 499 winners at the Custard Factory in Birmingham on the Induction Day. (Sadly, no sign of any custard.)

Gok Was was appointed as the Ambassador of The World of Difference programme and has been round the country promoting it … which maybe explains why there were 11,000 entrants this year compared with 1,600 last.

Follow our progress with our Vodaphone blog and follow us on Twitter.

You can also find out more about the programme and all the winners on Facebook.

Your views count!

Maypole has been invited to the House of Commons to discuss how proposals to change child maintenance will affect women and children. This is your chance to have your views heard.

The Goverment is suggesting:

·         parents will be encouraged to make private arrangements

·         a fee of £20-25 to find how much maintenance would be payable

·         an application fee of £100 for the resident parent – £50 if on benefit, £20 paid upfront

·         victims of domestic violence would be exempt

·         a deduction of 7% – 12% of any child maintenance paid to cover administrative costs

·         further enforcement charges for the non resident parent if enforcement is needed

·        non-resident parents will be able to avoid a collection charge by agreeing to pay the maintenance direct to the parent with care, even against their wishes
Please E mail us by Tuesday and we can pass on your comments.

Evidence Facebooked

More warnings that Facebook and other social media can be used as evidence in divorce cases, including child proceedings.

However, the view that Facebook can cause divorce is disputed.
