MY THOUGHTS
A step in the right direction, if only Local Authority’s would consider using this clause, which is something they should be doing, as a mandatory obligation under the Public Guidelines.
I am going to a conference on Thursday, hosted by PAIN Solicitors Nigel Priestley, although he is on the childrens panel, he specialises in the kincare clause, he has won at least three landmark cases, of which the Grandparents in the caring roll have won the cause to be payed as much as a normal foster carer.
Many Grandparents suffer severe financial burdens while taking on this roll, which in some cases, the arrangements breaks down, forcing the children to be placed with foster carers,at a greater cost to the taxpayer, and causing more trauma to the child.
