Quarter of children in care unable to access mental health support during pandemic

More than one in four children in care in need of mental health support struggled to access help during the Covid-19 pandemic, research has revealed.

Quarter of children in care unable to access mental health support ...

I suppose we have to blame the pandemic for this because the general public are being denied mental health support and treatment.

So we cannot really blame Local Authority failings for this .

But another hard blow for Children in Local Authority care .

They will be going through the trauma of being removed from their families and now no support from mental health services with regards to this trauma.

They will be lucky if they get any support from their social worker due to them being overloaded with cases.

But they should all have an advocate that assists them.they are offered this support up until the age of 25.

But these personal advocates are not community psychiatric nurses. Or CBT counsellors.psychologists.psychiatrists or psychodynamic psychotherapists.

They could be pointed in the direction of their GPs who will have details of the local providers of CBT therapists.

Teenagers 17 or 18 year olds would be entitled to this therapy and due to the pandemic it would be telephone based..
