Legal Aid Minister Willy Bach has today announced the government will tighten the rules for civil legal aid so that fraudsters are uncovered at an early stage, and funding is better

LSC guidelines on financial eligibility for legal aid
TUES 02/02/2010 - The Legal Services Commission has produced new guidelines to help practitioners when making applications for legal aid.

LSC publishes updated Family and Social Welfare Law plans
Tender process will begin in week of 22 February
The Legal Services Commission is publishing updated plans for Family and Social Welfare Law. Current civil legal aid contracts come to an end on 13 October 2010. Any organisation which wishes to deliver legal aid work in Social Welfare Law and Family from 14 October 2010 will need to apply for and be awarded a new contract.

The whole child protection and family courts are in meltdown,and now a computer,and data system that holds information about children, a key part of the functioning system was not in working order.
The data was in relation to school attendance, it would give other agencies information if a child was not in school for long periods, thus helping to detect children at risk.

A social worker appeared before a disciplinary hearing today charged with misconduct following the "suspicious" death of a baby.
