As we know with all child care cases, it is inevitable that Social Services and Social workers become involved.
Many articles in the press over recent years have levied much criticism at Social Services and the treatment of families. The press cannot report something that isn't true or not have some evidence of fact. Nor can they break laws or violate the children's act. Otherwise, it would result in massive law suite to which a paper can ill afford. Local Authorities have their own…

The Volunteers and their experience
Alison Stevens
Alison Stevens is our Chairperson and was part of the original PAIN organisation. During the late 1980s Alison faced the loss of her own children after wrongly being accused of harming her son. It had transpired that her son was suffering from brittle bones disease and that she had not caused injuries to her son. Luckily Alison managed to keep her children. Alison, felt that without the help and support given to her from…

Re: False allegations made against social workers by parents/carers
By RGS in Social work profession
The CRB contains no details of allegations - only criminal convictions so her CRB should be clear. Not knowing the case, its difficult to comment but the term 'child in need' is used to define children with disabilities, who need additional support etc, so as such it should not be seen as a stick to hit Mum with. A plan for a child in need is a plan set in place to support a…

I really feel sick to the pits of my stomach, State sanctioned Child trafficking.
The money that will feast these party's, will come out of the taxpayer’s purse.
Why this kind of money is not being used to keep children with their natural Parents beggars belief.
The Children’s charity Coram have put into practice with Local Authorities to place newly born babies with prospective adoptive Parents in the early stage of Care Proceedings and placements are being planned before babies…

Concern over new family legal aid fixed fees
Concern over new family legal aid fixed fees
WED 21/10/2009 - The Ministry of Justice and the Legal Services Commission have today published new fee structures for family legal aid that will see hourly rates replaced with fixed fees.
Family lawyers have warned that the new fixed fees are likely to mean a mass exodus of lawyers from family legal aid and undermine access to justice for ordinary families. The number of family…

On Line publications of some Family Court Care Proceedings, Contact and Residence case judgments will be piloted for the first time at Courts in Leeds and Cardiff, lets hope the anonymity of the Children and Parents will be secure, but with the present debacle within the child protection area and Family Court arena only time will tell

My heart goes out to this young couple; they should at least have been given the opportunity to be assessed in a Mother and Baby unit and under the Public Law Legal Guidelines. Social Services should be considering the kin care clause, by placing the Child with an immediate member of the family.
Is this another Family torn apart, by so called expert witnesses, giving conflicting Medical or Psychological evidence, to gratify Local Authority Adoption targets?
The former will continue…

THE FAMILY SAVIOUR
Alison Stevens, 51, from Leicestershire
Twenty-four years ago social services took away Alison's three-year-old son, Scott, after mistakenly deciding he was being abused. In fact, doctors should have diagnosed brittle bone disease when Scott broke his leg. Mother and son were reunited, but the incident inspired Alison's work as head of Parents Against Injustice (PAIN). She fits in her demanding, unpaid work around her full-time nursing job. This month her…

I applaud the efforts of looked after children to try and persuade the chairperson of the Social Work task force to involve children and young people in the future training and recruitment of Social Workers.
What a sad state of affairs it is when young service users are not informed, when their key worker is moving onto pastures new and a new professional turns up out of the blue.
I await the outcome of this new project with anticipation, because within the new Public Law Guidelines,…
