On 9 May 2011 new fee schemes will be introduced for family work – the Private Family Law Representation Scheme and the Family Advocacy Scheme. The guidance in relation to both these schemes together with the Advocates’ Attendance Form that will be used for advocates at hearings and Questions and Answers on the new schemes can be found in the documents section on the right hand side of this page.

UK lags in children’s well-being rankings

Sweden Sweden is the best country in the world for children’s well-being, according to Save the Children

The UK is in the bottom half of an international league table of developed countries for “well-being” in childhood.

Child care cases to be reviewed

Child care cases to be reviewed

Thousands of parents whose children were taken into care because of fears they may harm them are to have their cases reviewed in an inquiry sparked by the discrediting of a key medical witness.

Solicitor General Harriet Harman confirmed that the care cases – believed to number as many as 5,000 – would be included in an inquiry set up to look into the convictions of 258 women for murdering their babies over the past 10 years.
